The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification is an internationally recognized scuba diving program. It is designed to expand upon the skills and knowledge gained during the PADI Open Water Diver course and further enhance a diver's abilities and experience.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of both knowledge development and practical training. Here is a breakdown of the components:
1. Knowledge Development: Five knowledge review sections covering topics such as deep diving, underwater navigation, night diving, underwater naturalist, and a dive elective of your choice (e.g., wreck diving, boat diving, peak performance buoyancy, etc.).
2. Practical Training: Five adventure dives, each focused on a specific diving specialty. The adventure dives are conducted under the supervision of a PADI Instructor. The two mandatory adventure dives are Deep Diving (typically between 18-30 meters/60-100 feet) and Underwater Navigation (usually done together). These dives aim to enhance your ability to plan and safely conduct dives in deeper waters and improve your navigation skills. The other three adventure dives are chosen from a variety of options.
During the course, you will develop practical diving skills, gain a deeper understanding of dive theory, learn about the importance of dive planning and safety, and become more confident and comfortable in various diving environments.
To qualify for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, you must be at least 15 years old and have a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or an equivalent certification from another recognized diving organization).
Keep in mind PADI book or e-Learning is not included.
